What if everyone in Rye read the same book?

This project is yet another way to reach out to our community that supports us so well.

We have selected a wonderful book from local author Wendy Orr called "Nim's Island" and have launched this project with Wendy at a school assembly. 

All children in the school have been encouraged to borrow and read to themselves, their younger siblings and with their parents.  The books are also being loaned out to our local traders, R.S.L, Senior Citizens, Bowls club, the Shire Offices etc. so we may all share the experience of a book together.

We have learned that the book is to be made into a film.  What if the Australian Premier was at Rye Primary School; a community where so many have shared a book and a love of reading?
